darren everett criss was born on february 5, 1987. he's half-filipino & half-irish & originally from san francisco, ca. he went to the university of michigan, graduating in 2009 with a bachelor of fine arts in performance, acting. he is best known for portraying blaine anderson on Glee. he first garnered attention playing the lead role of harry potter in starkid's musical productions of avpm and avps. in january 2012, he made his broadway debut, starring as j. pierrepont finch in the revival of how to succeed in business without really trying.

"I think that my favorite part is when Darren sees the Potter stinks buttons and he is supposed to say, “Where did you get this button?” But he says “Who made that pin?” And that’s how he says it. Why did he say it like that? We just thought it was really funny. And he made a stupid face and a stupid voice just for that one line. Many years ago, I lived with Darren for a summer. Basically, I started telling him about our ideas for The Very Potter Musical; a musical about Harry Potter. This was a year before we actually did it. And Darren starting saying like, “Oh yeah, yeah, yeah that’s pretty cool, I was thinking about writing two Harry Potter themed songs.” And he wanted to write one where Harry Potter was just a metaphor in the songs that he was writing. And one was a song called ‘Goin’ Back to Hogwarts’ that was about, you know, going back to your childhood and going back to your friends and stuff like that.
And then he was like, “Then I want to write a song called ‘I Was Harry Potter’. Where it’s about you losing everything and about how you used to be a cool guy and now you’re a loser”. Those were his two ideas for Harry Potter themed songs.
And then when we were doing the first one we were like, “Hey let’s use your idea for that song ‘Goin’ Back to Hogwarts’ and that’ll be the beginning of the show”. And he was like, “Yeah sure okay”.
And in this one, we were like, let’s use the ‘I Was Harry Potter’ idea. This was also when we made up the show, right after the sequel was done; we assumed that Darren would be writing music for it, but he ended up not being able to.

"Darren was in the acting program the year under me and Brian, and we met him at a party - Darren just had his guitar out, and he was singing Disney songs, and we were like ‘Wow…wow!’ and we knew all the words to the songs that he was singing. So we were pleasantly surprised with each other. So we became friends like that, and any time we had a party we always wanted Darren to come over and bring his guitar. And it just turned into Disney sing-along, all of our parties."

Like, there are a lot of mess-ups in Little White Lie - like the audio is all messed up, and we would always trip over cords and then a light would fall down and smash on the groud and we’d break everything, so we wanted to… We were like, What are we going to call ourselves? And we were like, talking to Jim Povolo, and we were like, Jim Povolo who plays Goyle, and we were like, ‘What should we call ourselves?’ and he was like [in fake deep Jim voice], ‘You should call yourselves Fresh From The Oven!’ and we were like nooo, that’s dumb. And then, so, we came up with ‘Oops-Fuck Productions.’ It’s where we’d have a little mess-up and we’d go ‘Oops…’ and then we’d realize it’s a big mess-up and go ‘Fuuuuuuccckk!!’ Oops-Fuck Productions."
